As Saraya prepares to wrestle her first match since December 2017 at AEW Full Gear on November 19th, she has revealed that she would also like to face Sasha Banks one more time before she hangs up her boots for good.
The pair wrestled their first singles match together all of the way back in August 2013 in NXT, while they also went toe-toe-to on Monday Night Raw. Unfortunately fans will also remember that Banks was involved in the incident which was believed to have ended Saraya’s in-ring career in a six-woman tag team match at a live event on December 27th, 2017. However, after signing with AEW Saraya announced that she has been cleared to return to the ring, and will be back in action against Britt Baker at Full Gear. The star revealed that she texted Banks as soon as she got the good news from the doctor as the two remain good friends.
Saraya Looks Ahead To One More Match With Sasha Banks
Ahead of the clash with Baker, the British star sat down with Chris Van Vliet in a wide-ranging interview covering her life and career to date. During the conversation, Saraya explained that she would like to have a rematch with Banks, before promising that one day she’ll make it happen.
“So I really wanted to have that match for Sasha. Like I wanted to have that rematch with her, because we have a built in story you know, so I really wanted that. But she’s kind of going down her own path and stuff now, doing her own thing. You don’t know where she’s going to be. She has an exciting life going on right now, I’m very pleased and like she’s building her career outside of wrestling too, you know, awesome. And Naomi. So it’s really really cool to see.
But I get to face Britt too, who I’ve always wanted to face, and then in this brand new company as well. And the crazy part is that she’s always been like a big fan of mine. I’ve seen the interviews Britt, I’ve seen them all, she was a fan of mine so it’s kind of cool that I get to have like a comeback story with her, and she’s so supportive. So I’m excited. I’m excited to have that match. One day I’ll have that match with Sasha, though.”
Sasha Banks hasn’t wrestled since appearing at a WWE live event on May 15th in Roanoke, Virginia. 24-hours later she and tag team partner Naomi walked out of a Monday Night Raw taping, handing in their Women’s Tag Team Titles as they went. The walkout was reportedly sparked by a row over creative, and despite huge levels of speculation neither woman has yet to return to the company.
Banks herself has continued to add fuel to the fire in recent weeks, being pictured training in numerous wrestling gyms around the world. The star has also teased that something exciting is coming, something she has waited six months for.
