After four years and ten months out of action, Saraya has finally been cleared to return to the ring.
At AEW Dynamite Grand Slam Saraya became All Elite. The star walked out to a monster ovation from the New York crowd as she headed to the ring to confront Britt Baker, Serena Deeb and Jamie Hayter.
It was her first major appearance since her WWE contract expired on July 7th 2022. Although she had remained under contract, the British star hadn’t wrestled since December 2017 after suffering a second serious neck injury. Known as Paige at the time, she announced her retirement months later aged 25.
However, the star has made no secret of her desire to get cleared to return, and it appears she has finally achieved her goal. After getting into an in-ring brawl with Britt Baker on the October 5th edition of Dynamite, it has now been reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that she has officially been cleared.
“Saraya was officially cleared by Dr. Michael Sampson. She looks to be feuding with Britt Baker. They got into it. It was short and you really couldn’t tell how Saraya looked after so many years not wrestling.”
Speaking in a recent interview AEW President Tony Khan said that the star’s in-ring future would be addressed at “some point” which appeared to leave the door open for her to wrestle. Khan was also full of praise for the first-ever NXT Women’s Champion describing her as “awesome” adding that she will be a positive influence on AEW for years to come.
