Saraya addressed fans on Dynamite for the first time since making her shock AEW debut and wasted little time in having a little dig at her former employer.
Just moments after Toni Storm had successfully defended her Interim AEW Women’s World Title at Dynamite Grand Slam she was attacked by Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter. However, backup was quick to arrive in the form of Saraya, who had been known as Paige in WWE.
Fast forward seven days and Saraya addressed fans for the first time on the September 28th episode of AEW Dynamite. The star once again entered to a huge ovation and thanked fans for their response, before going on to comment that she is “damaged but not broken,” promising to bring revolution to the women’s division.
At this she called out the women’s division and was joined by Toni Storm, Madison Rayne, Athena, and Willow Nightingale. Saraya heaped praise on Storm before being confronted by Britt Baker and her crew. Baker wasted little time in getting under the skin of the former WWE star, saying that she put her neck on the line, and unlike Saraya, her neck was strong enough to take it.
After some back and forth, Baker brought out Serena Deeb who was due to take on Toni Storm that night. As AEW’s resident dentist tried to call the shots, Saraya cut her off, before taking a not so subtle dig at WWE, quipping:
“I may not have been in AEW very long but I do have eyes and I do have ears. I realise you guys [Baker and co] like to get up to some funky stuff. Since I talked to Tony [Khan] backstage, It’s so good to finally have a boss that actually listens to me!”
The British star announced that the planned match between Deeb and Storm would be a Lumberjack Match.
In the end it was Storm who claimed the win and retained her title following an Avalanche Piledriver.
While Saraya’s in-ring future remains uncertain, a report ahead of the show noted that her AEW contract implies that she will be wrestling.
