Saraya – former WWE star Paige – became the latest AEW debutant at Grand Slam Dynamite, but how she go about keeping her appearance a surprise?
Arthur Ashe Stadium was left shocked during the second AEW Grand Slam Dynamite, as Saraya – f.k.a WWE Superstar Paige – made her surprise debut with the Tony Khan-helmed promotion. Coming to the aid of Athena and interim AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm, many were left wondering how, exactly, Saraya’s debut was kept close to the chest.
Well, she hid herself in an oversized hoodie and sunglasses. ‘The Anti-Diva’ posted to her Instagram story the disguise she used to remain hidden until she was needed for the 21 September card event.
It remains a mystery what role Saraya will play in AEW. Although she’s been added to the official roster page with a win/loss record, it’s reported that she remains uncleared for in-ring competition, as she has been since suffering a career-ending neck injury in December 2017.
Formerly a WWE Superstar for 11 years, the then-Paige was officially released from the sports entertainment giant on 7 July. She’d been used sporadically since her retirement in April 2018 in a range of non-wrestling roles, including serving as SmackDown General Manager, and as The Kabuki Warriors’ manager.
