In the wake of Sara Lee’s tragic passing, the Tough Enough winner’s family has issued a new statement to thank fans for their outpouring of support.
On October 6th it was announced that Sara Weston, known to wrestling fans as Sara Lee, had passed away aged just 30.
Sara Lee was the co-winner of WWE Tough Enough alongside Josh Bredl in 2015. She adopted the ring name of Hope throughout her Tough Enough journey and was assigned to the WWE Performance Center in September 2015. It was here that she reverted to using her real name.
Lee married former WWE Superstar Wesley Blake (real name Cory Weston) in December 2017, with the couple having three young children together.
Following the announcement of her passing, a GoFundMe page was set up in order to help pay for funeral expenses and provide support to her family and young children. The Sara Lee Memorial fund quickly saw an influx of donations with many coming from wrestlers all over the world. The fund has currently raised over $100,000.
In a new statement shared by close friend Bull James on Twitter, Weston’s family issued a new statement to thank those who’ve been supportive during this tragic time.
“On behalf of the Weston and Lee family we would like to express our deepest gratitude for the love that has been shown toward Cory, Sara, and their beautiful children. Cory has taken a step back from social media but is blown away by the generosity everyone has shown. Through the darkest times you guys have been a ray of light. Thank you, will never be enough.”
