Santos Escobar & Ricochet Punch Their Tickets To WWE Smackdown World Cup Finals

By Andrew Powell. Published 26th November 2022.

The WWE Smackdown World Cup Finals are officially set.

Earlier during the day on Friday, November 25, 2022, it was bad news for England in the FIFA World Cup as they would get dominated by the United States of America, however, for Santos Escobar (Mexico) and Richocet (United States of America) it was a day of glory as the two will meet up in the finals of the WWE Smackdown World Cup.

Santos Escobar & Richocet To Fight For Intercontinental Title Shot

For Santos Escobar, the WWE Smackdown World Cup began for him as he took on Shinsuke Nakamura (Japan) in the first round of the tournament. After taking on the Japanese star, the Mexican then squared off against Butch (England) for a semi-finals victory during the November 25, 2022 episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown.

Richocet’s path began in the first round when he picked up a victory against Mustafa Ali (Pakistan), and then in the semi-finals during the November 25, 2022 edition of WWE Friday Night Smackdown, he squared off against another American in Braun Strowman — getting a victory over the criticizer of “flippy floppy” wrestlers. Strowman got upset after GUNTER and Imperium interfered, which eventually led to Richocet coming to save Strowman.

After their World Cup wins on the November 25, 2022 edition of WWE Friday Night Smackdown, Mexico’s Santos Escobar and the United States of America’s Ricochet now advance to the WWE Smackdown World Cup Finals, which takes place on next week’s December 2, 2022 episode of Smackdown. Whoever wins between the two will get a title shot for GUNTHER’s Intercontinental Championship.

WWE is just one day away from their Premium Live Event of Survivor Series, which takes place on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Boston’s TD Garden. The show is set to kick off at 8:00 PM ET, with the PLE streaming live on Peackock.

The WWE Survivor Series card currently is listed as:

  • Men’s WarGames Match: The Bloodline – Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn & Solo Sikoa vs. Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Butch, Ridge Holland & Kevin Owens
  • Women’s WarGames Match: Bayley, IYO SKY, Dakota Kai, Nikki Cross & Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair, Asuka, Alexa Bliss, Mia Yim & Becky Lynch.
