As first reported by Fightful and Fightful Select, Santana Garrett was called up to WWE’s main roster this past summer.
However, there has been some mystery and confusion surrounding the star’s promotion as she has not been seen on WWE television or heard of since being brought up. Garrett, a former Mae Young Classic, competitor, was not even included in the 2020 WWE Draft.
Garrett – then a member of the NXT roster – had previously competed on Main Event in a defeat to Liv Morgan (April 17, 2020) and Monday Night Raw losing to Bianca Belair (April 20, 2020) prior to her call-up.
The last time she was seen on television was looking at the lights for Mercedes Martinez at NXT The Great American Bash on July 8.
Fightful Select wrote in their statement:
“Yet another “phantom call up” has happened in WWE. Fightful has learned that Santana Garrett was “called up” to the WWE main roster this past summer, but never debuted. Garrett appeared on Raw, Main Event and NXT throughout the spring, before vanishing after May. She reappeared on the July 1 episode of NXT, but hasn’t been seen on TV since. We’ve heard that there were several creative pitches involved with Santana Garrett, including being involved in a tag team, but the pitch never made it through in the end. Earlier this year, Chelsea Green was called up and not used until November, and Vanessa Borne was called up as far back as February and not used.”
As of writing, there is no official word on Garrett being injured – though this is a possibility – or missing work due to any COVID-19 related issue.
