AEW Superstar Samoa Joe has enjoyed a successful career in the ring but is soon to be heard on screen in a different fashion after it was announced he would be voicing a character in a video game.
Samoa Joe to voice ‘King Shark’ in upcoming Suicide Squad game
It has been announced that the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion will voice the character of the villainous ‘King Shark’ in upcoming DC Comics video game Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. Joe’s character features in a newly released trailer to promote the game.
It isn’t the Huntingdon Beach, California natives first foray into voiceover work having previously provided the voice of Juggernaut in DotA Underlords and Sweet Tooth in the Twisted Metal TV adaptation.
‘King Shark’ will be available to play as one of the four playable characters, alongside Captain Boomerang (voiced by Daniel Lapaine), Deadshot (voiced by Bumper Robinson) and perhaps most famously Harley Quinn (voiced by former My Little Pony voice actor Tara Strong).
The game, developed by Rocksteady, is scheduled for release on Friday 26th May 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC.
The former WWE United States Champion is well known for his skills with the microphone in hand and had a chance to showcase those talents behind the announce desk when taking on the task as a colour commentator on Monday Night RAW during an injury-enforced absence from the ring.
After his release from WWE in January 2022, Joe resurfaced in Ring Of Honor on April 1st at Supercard Of Honor XV to help Jonathan Gresham and Lee Moriarty after they were attacked by Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt.
Soon after it was announced by Tony Khan that Samoa Joe had signed with AEW and he has enjoyed a succesful time in the promotion to date, including claiming the AEW TNT Championship with victory over Darby Allin on the 1st February edition of AEW Dynamite.
