While Samoa Joe hasn’t competed inside a WWE ring since February 2020, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a hit list ready to go, if and when he steps back inside the ropes.
It’s a little over two months since Samoa Joe was released by WWE, but a deal was set into motion on that very same day for his return. Fast forward from April 15th to June 15th and Joe was back standing in an NXT ring for the first time since 2017.
Although Joe’s current role finds him appearing as the right hand man to NXT General Manager William Regal, that hasn’t stopped speculation soaring about an in-ring return. Something the man himself has admitted he is working towards.
Speaking to Ryan Satin on his Out of Character podcast, Joe confirmed that he was “absolutely” looking to get back in the ring.
The former NXT Champion was then asked which NXT Superstars he’d like to go toe-to-toe with given the opportunity.
“Great question. I think Karrion Kross, Pete Dunne definitely top that list. I think a guy like WALTER – hey, people have been asking for it. I’m not blind. And it’s for good reason. The guy is a powerhouse, and people want to see some furniture moving.
“It’s not just one or two guys.
Joe proceeded to rattle off four more names, including singling out Bronson Reed.
“Guys from Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly. I mean, there’s several very, very accomplished athletes in NXT.
“Bronson Reed! I know he’s always yappin’. He wants to get some. He always running his mouth. Aussies, you know, they got big mouths down there. The kangaroos got big pouches, they got big mouths. That’s Aussies for you! What can you do [laughing]?!”
Elsewhere in the conversation Joe also opened up about one of his favourite ever feuds, his rivalry with Brock Lesnar. The former United States Champion spoke highly of his former rival and advocate Paul Heyman, adding that it was a “pleasure” to take them both on.
