Following the news that MJF no-showed AEW’s double or Nothing Fan Fest event, it has emerged that Samoa Joe also missed his scheduled slot, although for very different reasons.
On May 28th MJF didn’t appear as advertised at an AEW Double or Nothing fan-fest. The star had been scheduled to appear at the event to sign autographs and take pictures with fans. It was reported that the non-appearance was legitimate and no one from the company was able to contact the star.
This was followed by a report that detailed how AEW has recently made attempts to discuss a new contract with MJF, even offering “top performer money” to get him to sign an extension, but the 26-year-old has purportedly ignored those efforts and has kept to himself since his tensions with Tony Khan began a few weeks ago.
It has now emerged that a second top star missed his slot at the event, as Samoa Joe did not appear as scheduled. However, unlike the MJF situation, it has been claimed that the Samoan Submission Machine was simply double-booked.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com addressed the mix-up, saying he was told a miscommunication had led to Samoa Joe being at a voiceover session rather than the meet and greet he was due to attend.
Regarding Samoa Joe missing Fanfest, he was double booked and we're told it was a miscommunication. One source indicated it was for a voiceover session.

On May 29th, as part of a mammoth 12-match card, Samoa Joe is set to clash with Adam Cole at AEW Double or Nothing in the final of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
