Sami Zayn’s Lack Of Success Called Out “As He Can’t Piggyback Off Roman Reigns” Anymore

Roman Reigns screams at Sami Zayn on WWE SmackDown

Sami Zayn is currently not in the greatest of form.

A few years back, Zayn parted ways with The Bloodline and renounced his title as the ‘Honorary Uce’, before starting his battle against Roman Reigns and his cousins. However, while fans became heavily invested in Zayn’s battle against The Bloodline, his time there as the ‘Honorary Uce’ is often regarded as some of his career’s best work.

Performing as a solo star on the main roster now, Zayn has since then won the tag-team and Intercontinental championships, and is currently involved in a feud against Karrion Kross. Recently, speaking on The Tony Rose Morning Show, the former NXT Champion Kross opened up about Zayn’s lack of success on the main roster.

“That’s right, he’s got to say that Kross told the truth, which everybody already knows anyway. I wouldn’t agree with you that his rise was organic, I mean, he was piggybacking off Roman Reigns to get to where he’s been and ever since he hasn’t been able to piggyback off Roman Reigns, he hasn’t found the same success he did. Let’s just tell the truth here, you’re being nice. You’re trying to be unbiased. Let’s tell the truth, he’s a manipulator and a liar.”

Kross is now scheduled to face Zayn at WWE SummerSlam 2025 Night 1.

Sami Zayn Recalls His Actual Reaction To Seeing The Package Piledriver On WWE TV

Last year on December 14th at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes defeated Kevin Owens to retain his WWE Undisputed Championship. However, moments after the match, Owens dropped Rhodes with the package piledriver.

Deemed as an extremely dangerous move, the Package Piledriver has remained a banned move in the Stamford-based promotion. Following Owens’ action, his former best friend Zayn opened on the Battleground Podcast and shared his honest reaction to it.

I mean, pretty crazy to see the Package Piledriver on WWE TV, first and foremost. I feel like I used to take that move a lot. My neck is not so good nowadays, and it’s probably better that I haven’t taken that move in a long time,” he said. “It was almost like seeing a ghost. You know what? I mean, it was very strange, like a memoir of a past life. For me, personally, just seeing that was kind of a bit of a surreal moment.”
