Tonight’s Clash of Champions kicked off in style as the Winner-Takes-All Ladder Match opened the show, and after a hellacious battle, Sami Zayn emerged Intercontinental Champion!
And new… And still… We’ll let you decide on that one, but we have an undisputed Intercontinental Champion.

Incumbent Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy’s reign has been blighted by rivalries with former champion AJ Styles – who would lose the title to Hardy after injuring Hardy’s leg and falling victim to the knee brace The Charismatic Enigma needed to compete.
Meanwhile, the reason AJ Styles became champion in the first place was due to Sami Zayn relinquishing the title. Having never actually lost the title, Zayn recently returned with the belt in hand, adding confusion to an already chaotic mix.
Both belts would be suspended above the ring for tonight’s Ladder Match, where all three men put their bodies on the line to deliver a fitting opening contest for Clash of Champions. Zayn would handcuff AJ Styles to a ladder, and Jeff Hardy’s earlobe to a ladder after a match that saw Hardy hit a Swanton from a 20-foot ladder.
After that match, two things are for sure. Sami Zayn is the new Intercontinental Champion – and THAT is a match that many will be rewatching in the future.
