Sami Zayn returned to WWE TV for the first time in over a month on the latest episode of SmackDown but says he is not allowed to reveal where he was during that time.
Zayn’s previous appearance on SmackDown saw him lose to Finn Balor in the latter’s first match since returning to the main roster after a lengthy run in NXT. However, the former Intercontinental Champion made a triumphant return to the blue brand last week, defeating Dominik Mysterio with a Helluva Kick.
In an in-character interview with Megan Morant after the show went off the air, Zayn vented his frustration about nobody reaching out to him while he was gone.
“It’s funny that now you suddenly have time for me. The last four weeks I haven’t been around; you could have reached out to me? But nobody did. I didn’t get a text, I didn’t get a call. Nobody even thought to ask, ‘where is Sami?’
He then claimed that he wasn’t “allowed to talk about” where he had been, saying that we would find out “in due time”.
“Where is one of the greatest performers of our time? Where is he these days? Nobody thought to ask. But now that I’m back, everyone is acting like they care. I’m not even allowed to talk about where I’ve been – but trust me, in due time, you’re going to find out where I was and what I was up to. And trust me, it’s going be juicy.”
Recently, Sami Zayn received praise from an unexpected source when Roman Reigns, speaking to BT Sport’s Ariel Helwani, spoke highly of the ‘Master Strategist’, saying “If you can get Sami Zayn on TV more, that’s a good thing”.
