Two months on from re-signing with WWE, Sami Zayn has detailed what his relationship is like with Vince McMahon.
Having first joined the company in January 2013 after a tremendously successful run on the independent circuit as El Generico, Sami Zayn can now be considered a WWE veteran. Zayn is a former NXT Champion and three-time Intercontinental Champion, while also being the 2014 NXT Superstar of the Year in that year’s Slammy Awards.
Due to his lengthy tenure with the company, Sami Zayn has struck up a professional relationship with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, who has shown trust in Zayn’s ability over the past few years. This is proven in Sami having worked with two celebrities at two WrestleManias in a row, having been managed by Logan Paul last year, and now wrestling Johnny Knoxville this weekend at WrestleMania 38.
Talking to talkSPORT and Inside The Ropes’ Alex McCarthy, Sami Zayn has detailed his relationship with the former WWE Champion:
“I don’t know on a personal level of the relationship between Vince and I, I don’t know. But certainly, I think my stock has gone up tremendously in his books in the last couple of years for sure, anytime you can carry something with an outside person, I think it helps because to your point, he was invested in those.”
Continuing, ‘The Underdog From The Underground’ specifically noted Vince enjoying a scene between him and Brock Lesnar:
“But yeah, I don’t know. It’s hard to get a read on that, man. It really is. But he has been very kind and, you know, I remember when I was doing the stuff with Brock and I actually did something with him on screen as well, and I was thrilled to hear that he was talking about it both to me and, you know, in like some meeting about how, how much he enjoyed it being on screen with me and the chemistry we had, I took that as such a huge compliment.
Maybe I shouldn’t even be saying this, you know, but you know what I mean? So I think he values me, he appreciates me, and I feel good about that and I feel I just feel very good about everything, honestly. I really do.”
Sami Zayn is scheduled to wrestle Jackass’ Johnny Knoxville in an Anything Goes match on night two of WrestleMania 38. Zayn had previously eliminated Knoxville from the 2022 men’s Royal Rumble match back in January.
