Sami Zayn recently spotlighted that “grumpy” wrestlers inspire the way he acts with fans.
Zayn didn’t name anybody in particular, but he said some of the higher stars don’t appreciate their fan base as much as they should. The “Honorary Uce” recently teamed up with The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jimmy and Jey Uso, Solo Sikoa and Sami Zayn) during WWE Survivor Series on November 26, 2022 to score a WarGames victory over Team Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Butch, Ridge Holland, Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens).
Sami Zayn Says That “Grumpy Veterans” Inspire Him With Fans
Recently, the “Honorary Uce” Sami Zayn took part in an interview with Metro.co.uk, where he would talk about some professional wrestlers who believe that it’s a part of the culture to mistreat fans, but Zayn isn’t on board with that mindset.
“When I started going on the road with WWE coming out of NXT and all that stuff, I used to see some of the grumpy veterans and they would treat the fans, sometimes, really poorly.
Not all of them, some of them were great. I remember thinking, man, I don’t ever wanna be like that! I don’t ever wanna take these fans for granted and be like that!”
A former WWE Intercontinental Champion and now official member of The Bloodline, Sami Zayn admitted that he loves the “excitement” of meeting fans at places that aren’t expected, but he also said that sometimes he has a different outlook.
“I started getting on the road, there [can be] a culture surrounding it – “this is just how you act”. You’re supposed to be annoyed by the fans or something.”
”
“I’ll admit, there were times at the airport where I’m like, ‘What are you guys doing here?!’ It happened once or twice for sure. But then I kinda stopped myself and I thought, what am I doing?
I just learnt, this is probably seven or eight years ago, to switch my thinking and to really appreciate fan interactions.”
