Sami Zayn will no longer be a part of Team SmackDown at Survivor Series after being removed from the blue squad.
With Survivor Series rapidly approaching, team unity on both Raw and SmackDown seems further away than ever. Over on the red brand, Dominik Mysterio was replaced on Team Raw by Bobby Lashley after being decimated by the All-Mighty.
Meanwhile, Team SmackDown has now also been thrown into a state of uncertainty. Standing backstage on the most recent episode of the show flanked by NXT 2.0 Superstar Von Wagner, Adam Pearce stated that the loser of the match between Sami Zayn and Jeff Hardy would be dropped from the team.
What followed by a real back and forth contest between the two veterans, with the crowd firmly in the corner of the ‘Enigmatic Enigma.’ The match came to a conclusion with Zayn rolling up Hardy while getting his feet on the ropes for extra leverage. Unfortunately for Zayn, the referee spotted his little trick and broke up the pin. Zayn’s protestations allowed Hardy to regroup and hit a Twist of Fate to grab the win.
After the match Sami Zayn appeared distraught as he looked up at the big screen to see himself being removed from Team SmackDown.

Earlier on in the show, Aliyah found herself being cut from the SmackDown women’s team by Sonya Deville. This is despite the former NXT Superstar picking up the win on her SmackDown debut.
While riding high following her big win, Aliyah was confronted by Deville backstage. The WWE Official said that she had been advised that the young star was no longer part of the team.
At time of writing there is no news on who will be filling the vacant spots on both teams.
