Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens shared a heart-warming moment after SmackDown went off the air in Montreal.
The friendship between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn goes back long before either man ever stepped into a WWE ring. The pair wrestled anywhere and everywhere, often side by side for years before finally making it to WWE.
The most recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown was held in Zayn’s hometown of Montreal, Canada, so naturally Kevin Owens had to made a special appearance with his friend.
After the show went off the air Owens came to the ring flanked by Riddle and embraced Zayn to the delight of the crowd. Hilariously Riddle tried to join in on the hug but was pushed away. KO then said that he was proud of Zayn and that he’s the reason that he’s in WWE before adding that he’s happy to see his friend finally getting the recognition that he deserves.

On the show Zayn had earlier competed in a Fatal-Five-Way Match for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. Despite usually being a heel, Zayn entered to a monster ovation in front of his home crowd, soaking up the adulation on the way to the ring.
All the way through the match fans sang and chanted for Zayn conjuring up memories of his time in NXT. Part way through the contest Zayn sustained a ‘shoulder injury’ only to return to the ring later to another huge reaction.
Sadly for Zayn, his efforts weren’t quite enough as Sheamus pinned Happy Corbin following a Brogue Kick.
With victory, The Celtic Warrior earned a match with Gunther at Clash At The Castle. The match will be the first time that the Intercontinental Title has been defended on a pay-per-view/Premium Live Event since WrestleMania 37.
