Sami Zayn has fought back at critics in defence of his WrestleMania 38 match against Johnny Knoxville.
At WrestleMania 38, Sami Zayn wrestled Jackass star Johnny Knoxville in an Anything Goes match. The match featured cameos from Jackass co-stars and saw the actor defeat Zayn after trapping him underneath a giant mouse trap.
Although many have praised the match, there was some criticism regarding the finish and how it appeared to have been botched, but despite this, Zayn at least had his own unique WrestleMania moment.
During his appearance on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions, Sami Zayn spoke about wrestling the famed stuntman at WrestleMania. While the match wasn’t one of the more significant matches on the card, Zayn felt proud of what he had accomplished that night after he was asked whether or not he expected to wrestle Knoxville on a grand stage:
“No, obviously not. I mean, I couldn’t predict 20 years ago, when Jackass was huge, I’d be in the ring with Johnny Knoxville in front of 75,000 people. If you don’t like that match, then you’re stupid — at least in the [wrestling] business.”
Sami Zayn has recently been linked to The Bloodline on Friday Night SmackDown, although it was reported that the former Intercontinental Champion is dealing with a minor injury and will be unable to wrestle for “a few weeks.”
