Sami Zayn took to Twitter recently to praise Daniel Bryan, referring to him as “the best in ring performer of our generation.”

Zayn posted to social media on Saturday, following his match against Bryan on the previous evening’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown. The WWE Intercontinental Champion praised ‘The Yes Man’, writing:

“As much as I run my mouth, it is always an absolute privilege to be able to get in the ring with Daniel Bryan. You never know if or when it might happen again. He is, in my opinion, the best in ring performer of our generation.Still it should be noted, I won the match.”

Training under WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels, Daniel Bryan, known at the time by his real name Bryan Danielson, initially signed with WWE back in 2001. Working in the companies developmental system, Bryan wrestled for Memphis Championship Wrestling, before being released from his contract in July of that year.

The talent went on to become a highly respected figure on the independent scene, competing with the likes of CM Punk, Roderick Strong and Kenny Omega. Daniel made his return to WWE in 2009 and would go on to capture every major Championship within the company, creating the “Yes Movement” along the way.

Other accolades include being ranked number 1 of the top 500 wrestlers in the PWI 500 in 2014 and, perhaps most notably, winning a Slammy Award for ‘Beard Of The Year’ in 2013.

Sami Zayn is also a highly respected figure from his days on the independent circuit, performing for the likes of Dragon Gate, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and EVOLVE.

Zayn, known at the time as El Generico, was perhaps best known at the time for his two year feud with Kevin Owens (formally Steen) in Ring Of Honour. Sami would sign with WWE in 2013, going on to become NXT Champion.

Sami Zayn and Daniel Bryan have faced each other multiple times this year, including a bout at WrestleMania 36, which saw Zayn defeat Bryan in a match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
