The Great British Bake Off is a staple of British television, but it’s not just Brits who turn to the show for comfort and enjoyment. Sami Zayn, who resides in Canada, has previously admitted his love for the show, going so far as to admit he’d one day love to be a star on the show himself.
Although he’s currently unable to watch the current season due to it not airing in Canada yet, the multi-time WWE Intercontinental Champion is determined to one day enter the famous tent, joke around with Noel Fielding, and have his “sub-par vegan banana bread” judged by Paul Hollywood. If he got to, it appears Zayn would prefer to meet a previous winner.
Sami Zayn Calls Bake Off Champion A “Great Character”
Speaking with Metro’s Alistair McGeorge, ‘The Master Strategist’ explained how the 2018 Great British Bake Off winner Rahul Mandal remains a topic of conversation in his house, with Sami Zayn and his wife believing him to be one of the greatest television characters:
“It’s funny, my wife and I will still kinda joke about Rahul from a few seasons ago. I think he’s one of the best TV characters of all time, from any show! What a great character. It’s so funny, it’s a great show!”
Rahul, a research scientist at the time of his Great British Bake Off appearance, was a two-time Star Baker. He earned the coveted prize during Cake Week and Bread Week, ultimately winning the entire series despite a glass jar exploding under heat during his final Showstopper Challenge, resulting him being allocated fifteen additional minutes following cleanup.
The thirteenth and current series of the show premiered on September 13 and is believed to be concluding on November 15. As it stands, only five bakers remain; Abdul Rehman Sharif, Janusz Domagala, Maxy Maligisa, Sandro Farmhouse, and Syabira Yusoff.
