Fans witness Samantha Irvin standing tall beside her partner and AEW star, Ricochet.
Just hours ahead of the 21st October edition of WWE Raw, former ring announcer Samantha Irvin publicly announced her departure from WWE. Though her departure left behind a huge void, the veteran Lilian Garcia soon filled it up.
However, fans soon connected her resignation from WWE with a possible jump to Tony Khan’s promotion and join her partner. Despite Ricochet crushing up all those rumors, fans remained consistent with it. The rumors soon turned into online trolling and backlash against the couple.
During a recent such incident, a fan verbally attacked the former Intercontinental Champion over his choice of wrestling in AEW for the hefty paychecks despite their poor viewership and crowd records. However, not taking the comments lightly, Irvin stood tall and defended her partner on X(Twitter).
When he was at WWE all he ever heard was that he was a jobber or he was in catering. Now he’s actually paid well to put on matches he likes. He is doing great and I’m really proud of him. Also I went to the show last night and the crowd was having fun. Not everyone wants to be famous doing something they don’t enjoy.”
While as per Irvin, Ricochet left the Stamford-based promotion due to the lack of exposure, she also recently revealed the reason behind her departure.
Samantha Irvin Explains The Reason Behind Her WWE Departure
The former ring announcer announced her departure from the Stamford-based promotion with an Instagram post around a week ago. Recently, replying to a comment on her post, Samantha Irvin revealed more details about her resignation.
I don’t like announcing. I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer. I love watching the action but I don’t love being an announcer.
I love WWE and I’m so proud and honored I got to share all the moments with fellow fans much love! also, they wanted Rico to stay in the big leagues. I don’t know why everyone pretending like he was always in great positions at WWE.”
Irvin has been a part of the promotion since 2021, and had bigger hopes for her career, though the promotion never saw it in her. Not a big fan of announcements, she dreamt of becoming a wrestling manager. However, when things did not fall into place, she found it better to move on to greener pastures.
