Rumoured Roman Reigns Match Will Not Take Place At Crown Jewel

Roman Reigns with the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on WWE SmackDown

Roman Reigns’ opponent at Crown Jewel remains a mystery.

The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion will be back in action in Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel on November 4th. Reigns has been absent from television for a number of weeks, meaning his direction for the event is very unclear.

This has sparked speculation about a number of potential opponents including John Cena. However, it seems that the match won’t be happening.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed there are no plans for the pair to wrestle at the event.

“Although the promos where the Bloodline and Heyman talk of Cena as “the second greatest wrestler of all-time,” with the idea Reigns is the greatest and a play off Cena’s WWE tag line of being the greatest, and Cena also at this point scheduled for Crown Jewel, it was confirmed to us that Reigns vs. Cena is not the match planned for the show.”

When Did Roman Reigns Last Wrestle?

The Tribal Chief hasn’t wrestled since getting the better of Jey Uso at SummerSlam thanks to a large helping hand from Jimmy Uso. On the following episode of SmackDown — August 11th — the chaos continued and Jey quit the blue brand and WWE. The show also marked the last time Reigns has appeared on television.

However, it seems Roman Reigns will be back on SmackDown very soon. The star is being advertised for the October 13th episode of SmackDown at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This comes after Reigns was advertised on the Fiserv Forum’s official website for the SmackDown show in Milwaukee on October 27th.
