Rumour Killer On WWE SummerSlam Main Event

Rumour Killer On WWE SummerSlam Main Event

Fan speculation regarding the creative plans for the main event of WWE SummerSlam has been debunked.

The final match of the newsworthy show saw Cody Rhodes defend the Undisputed Championship against Solo Sikoa in a Bloodline Rules match. Much like WrestleMania 40, fans expected interference throughout the contest with various babyface allies looking to neutralise Bloodline interference. Multiple cameos were seen throughout the match beginning with Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa looking to dispatch Rhodes before being neutralised by a returning Kevin Owens and Randy Orton.

Jacob Fatu appeared next and took himself out of the match with a dive to the outside before Roman Reigns made his highly anticipated return to take out Sikoa and allow Rhodes to pick up the victory. While the appearances were expected for the most part, some fans predicted that Jey and possibly Jimmy Uso would also be a part of the match due to the Bloodline power struggle that is expected to come to a head at Survivor Series. Additionally, with Jey Uso not on the card, it was also speculated that the former Uso may have been intentionally left off to factor into the main event.

Clarification on plans has since been provided by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, who stated that “there was never a plan or an audible called from an original plan” to have Jey and/or Jimmy Uso be a part of the main event.

In a recent interview, Jey Uso provided an update on his brother, who was taken out on the SmackDown after WrestleMania and has not been seen since due to injury.
