A new update on Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract has been provided.
Having a successful night at Elimination Chamber, McIntyre triumphed inside the structure and secured a major match at WrestleMania 40, where he will challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. If successful, McIntyre will finally win a major championship with live fans in attendance.
A couple of days after the match was secured, a report on social media gained traction which stated that the former World Champion had re-signed a new deal. However, according to a new report, this is not the case.
As reported by Alex McCarthy of The Daily Mail, WWE sources have stated that “talks aren’t close to being finalised, though they are ongoing.” The report also confirms that McIntyre’s contract does not expire until after WrestleMania, as has also been previously reported by multiple reliable sources.
Drew McIntyre Details Elimination Chamber Injury
Although McIntyre was victorious inside the steel structure, it did come at a price. In a post-match interview in Perth, Drew McIntyre stated that he may have suffered an injury in the match. With many top stars sidelined with injuries in the past few months, some were concerned that plans would have to be altered yet again.
However, McIntyre would go on to address his injury on the February 26th episode of Raw, stating that an injury would not keep him off WrestleMania and firing a further insult at CM Punk in the process.
With many hoping for a title change at WrestleMania, Booker T has also endorsed the top WWE star.
