AEW could be riding high with a new deal courtesy of Warner Bros. Discovery and that could include a big change in schedule.
Fightful Select initially reported that WBD is “very happy” with Tony Khan‘s AEW and that discussions of an extension have been going on for months. An announcemnt of a new deal could happen as early as this summer or upcoming autumn. Not only would that include a big pay boost, but also AEW would exclusively be under the WBD banner.
The latest report from Fightful Select adds another intriguing layer to this potential deal. A source from WBD told the outlet that there’s a significant possibilty of the conglomerate expanding AEW’s PPV (or PLE) schedule. This could go as far as even once a month with it being a big point of interest for WBD.
What A Schedule Expansion Could Mean For AEW
With monthly PPVs a point of interest for WBD, this could only mean postive developments for AEW, particularly when it comes to live streaming. WBD has HBO and it’s streaming service Max (no relation to Jacob Friedman) under its umbrella and a streaming deal in today’s world of pro wrestling is something heavily sought after. Any further information regarding that was not something that Fightful Select was able to elaborate further on.
AEW has dipped its toes into a bigger special event schedule with All In occuring in August as well as them doing Forbidden Door 2 this past June. The company has been cultivating a continuing buzz in the wrestling industry with its addition to “Collision” on its weekly schedule as well.
