Ahead of the March 20th episode of WWE Raw, it was reported that NXT star Grayson Waller would be in attendance for the show.
According to a tweet from WRKD Wrestling, Waller was to be featured on the program to help build his program with Johnny Gargano ahead of their match at NXT Stand & Deliver. The tweet also noted that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens would open the show to make their WrestleMania 39 match with The Usos official, and that Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes would close Raw in a segment that highlighted Solo Sikoa.
Sure enough, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn made their WrestleMania match official, and Solo Sikoa had an intense confrontation with Cody Rhodes before being told to stand down by Roman Reigns.
However, while Johnny Gargano faced Dominik Mysterio in singles action on the show, and Waller was nowhere to be seen. WRKD Wrestling later tweeted that plans had changed regarding his appearance. That tweet also notes that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs. The Usos is scheduled to main event night one of WrestleMania.
Grayson Waller Was Never Planned For WWE Raw According To A New Report
Grayson Waller’s social media appeared to support the claims made by WRKD Wrestling, tweeting earlier in the night that he had “big plans.” The star later backtracked, though, saying that his plans included having sushi and that if fans wanted to see him they would have to tune into WWE NXT.
Now, an update from Fightful Select pours cold water on the reported plans for Waller, stating that he was never scheduled to appear on WWE Raw. According to the report, multiple sources who were at Raw stated Waller was “not involved in the creative plans, and was not set for the show in any capacity for March 20.” In fact, those in creative only heard about plans for the star to appear when they were asked about the rumors circulating online, and they quickly shot down those rumors.
