Ruby Soho has defeated former AEW Women’s World Champion Riho to advance to the next round of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
In an amusing twist before the match even began, as Ruby Soho’s theme music hit, Riho put her fingers in her ears to block out the fan favourite tune.
Once the match began, Riho attempted to gain an early advantage with her technical prowess, but Soho used her superior power to fight back. Not that this swung the momentum fully her way, with neither woman being able to gain much of an advantage for vast periods of the bout.
Soho only fully gained the upper hand in the final stretch delivering a Backdrop Driver for a near fall, before following up with a series of hard strikes and a Blade Runner to score the win.

Soho will now face the winner of the bout between Red Velvet and Kris Statlander. Hikaru Shida had originally been scheduled to face Red Velvet, but on Rampage it was announced that she had suffered an injury in her Street Fight against Serena Deeb.
At time of writing it is unclear as to the nature of the injury, and how much time the former AEW Women’s Champion will miss.
In the other half of the bracket, Toni Storm advanced on Dynamite after defeating Jamie Hayter. Storm who remains undefeated in AEW, will meet Britt Baker or the as-yet unnamed mystery opponent in her semi-final.
With regard to the men’s tournament, Adam Cole will square off against Jeff Hardy in the first semi-final after both men were victorious in their respective quarter-final matches on Dynamite. Cole overcame a spirited challenge from Dax Harwood, while Hardy denied Darby Allin and cheated death to advance.
Meanwhile, the other half the bracket is yet to get underway. In the first quarter-final, Kyle O’Reilly takes on Rey Fenix, while Samoa Joe will meet an unnamed mystery opponent.
