Ruby Soho Advances To The AEW TBS Women’s Championship Tournament Finals

Ruby Soho Wins Womens Casino Battle Royale

Ruby Soho defeated Nyla Rose on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite and is headed to the finals of the TBS Women’s Championship Tournament on January 5th.

Vickie Guerrero interfered in the match constantly, saving her client from destruction and forcing Ruby to crash into the steel steps. At another point, she knocked Ruby off the turnbuckle and allowing Nyla to get a nearfall with a flying knee, but Ruby overcame the numbers game and kicked out.

As she had Nyla in the Dragon Sleeper shortly thereafter, Vickie Guerrero distracted the referee and allowed Nyla to hit the Beast Bomb on Soho. Only narrowly was Ruby able to kick out again.

Ruby Soho hit No Future on Nyla Rose for the win to a thunderous applause from the Greensboro crowd.

The unveiling of the coveted TBS Women’s Championship took place on the October 6th episode of AEW Dynamite, with the tournament brackets being revealed later in the month.

Ruby Soho has definitely made waves since making her AEW debut by winning the Casino Battle Royal at AEW All Out on September 5th. In an interview with Inside the Ropes‘ own Kenny McIntosh, the tournament finalist called her debut “everything that I wanted it to be and more.”

“Oh yeah I was so nervous, so nervous. I had no idea how the crowd was going to respond. To me, I knew that it was a really big night, and I was worried. I hoped that they were going to welcome me with open arms, and when they started to chant Ruby Soho prior to me even coming out, it was real to me in that moment. I started crying, I was like OK I’ve got to pull this together, I’ve got to go and wrestle. But it was everything that I wanted it to be and more, it was more than what I expected.

I was nervous before that, but that crowd that night was such a special moment. That was the best moment in my career to date, because it was a culmination of 11 years of work that I had done, and a lot of nervousness coming into it. I was so grateful to the fans there for their warm welcome, it was awesome.”

Ruby Soho will face either Jade Cargill or Thunder Rosa in the tournament finals on January 5th, which will mark AEW’s inaugural show after moving to TBS from TNT.
