Ruby Riott

On June 2nd Ruby Riott was released alongside Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Buddy Murphy and Santana Garrett.

As news of Ruby Riott’s release began to circulate, tributes poured in to the former WWE Superstar.

Indi Hartwell described Ruby Riott as a “lovely soul” while Liv Morgan said that any company who signs the star will be lucky to have her.

Posting on Twitter, Bayley described how Riott was loved behind the scenes before calling her one of the “greatest wrestlers out there.”

Riott has now addressed the release in a message posted on social media.

Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan debuted as The Riott Squad in November 2017 attacking Becky Lynch and Naomi. The trio remained together until the Superstar Shakeup in 2019 with Logan, real name Sarah Rowe, leaving the company a year later. Riott and Morgan later reunited.

The pair were most recently in action on the May 28th episode of SmackDown where they were defeated by Women’s Tag Team Champions, Natalya and Tamina.

Lana also commented on her release in an emotional message to fans.

“I will never forget the fans, and the love they showed me. Whether it was a tank, power-suits, flags, CRUSH, Rusev, 900 partners, weddings or tables: I tried to always entertain you, and you definitely elevated me. Thank you.”

News of the latest WWE releases has also sparked speculation that the company may be sold.

Reflecting on the departures on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted that there are a lot of people within WWE who believe that the cuts are linked to a potential sale.
