Royal Rumble Peacock Viewership Beat Both Nights Of WrestleMania 37

WWE Royal Rumble 2022

The 2022 Royal Rumble has become the most-watched WWE content on Peacock since the company struck a deal with the streaming service in 2021.

In January WWE and NBC Universal – the company that owns the USA Network which shows Raw and NXT announced a deal for rights to the WWE Network. The $1 billion agreement saw the WWE Network content migrate to the Peacock streaming service in the United States.

The first event that was exclusive to Peacock in the US was WrestleMania 37, held over two nights in April 2021. The event was headlined by both Sasha Banks taking on Bianca Belair as well as Roman Reigns defending the Universal Title against both Daniel Bryan and Edge.

Now Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that the recent Royal Rumble has become the most-watched WWE content on Peacock, overtaking the viewership of WrestleMania 37.

The Royal Rumble has long been one of the most popular events in WWE history with fans tuning in to see the surprises and thrills of the Royal Rumble matches. This year saw ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey make her shock return to WWE as she won the women’s Rumble match, guaranteeing herself another WrestleMania main event.

In the men’s Royal Rumble, another shock came of sorts as Brock Lesnar surprised the field as the 30th entrant following his earlier WWE Title loss to Bobby Lashley. Lensar last eliminated Drew McIntyre on his way to winning the bout for the second time in his career.

The fallout from the Royal Rumble has not been wholly positive however as Shane McMahon has left the company following his role in producing the men’s Rumble match.
