Royal Rumble Reportedly Sees Backstage Frustration And Low Morale

WWE Royal Rumble 2022

The Royal Rumble is in the books for another year and while it was a good night for Ronda Rousey and Bobby Lashley, reports suggest there was plenty of frustration backstage.

The 2022 Royal Rumble was a night chock full of surprises that kept the fans in attendance in St. Louis on the edge of their seats all night. ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey made her return to WWE after almost three years away from the company to win the women’s Royal Rumble match, guaranteeing herself another WrestleMania main event.

In the WWE Championship match, Brock Lesnar looked set to retain his title against Bobby Lashley before events from almost 20 years ago repeated themselves. Paul Heyman proved his allegiance is still with The Tribal Chief as Roman Reigns and Heyman conspired to cost The Beast Incarnate his WWE Title.

However, Lesnar had the last laugh on the night when he stunned the field by entering the men’s Rumble match at number 30 on his way to winning the whole thing for the second time in his career.

According to a new report from PWInsider however, Brock Lesnar may have been the only one laughing as frustration and low morale is said to have been in abundance backstage.

One source in the report is quoted as saying plans for the men’s Rumble match changed “20 times” while it is also said that production for the women’s match was also plagued with changes throughout the day leading to frustration. A lot of the changes are said to have come from Vince McMahon who had his “fingers deep” in all aspects of the event.

One backstage source is quoted as saying:

“We were all in a whirlwind. Just as you had your role and spots down, everything started over and over and now most of us were back to square one. It changed again and again and again. It wasn’t an easy night even before we hit the ring.”
