Not only is Ronda Rousey reportedly back in training, she could be back with WWE at the Royal Rumble.
Ronda Rousey hasn’t set foot in a WWE ring since April 7th 2019 at WrestleMania 35 where she was defeated in Triple Threat action. At the time, the former UFC star explained that she was taking time away as she and husband Travis Browne were trying for a baby.
Rousey gave birth to daughter La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō Browne back in September.
However, that could all be about to change.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, WWE are discussing the possibility of the former Raw Women’s Champion returning to the ring at the Royal Rumble. The report notes that it’s a “poorly kept secret” at this point and has even been mentioned those outside the company.
Rousey has been suggested as a entrant in the match itself, or to at least have some participation in the Rumble. Fightful add that they have been told by those within WWE that Rousey is back in training and it appears that it’s a matter of “when and not if” she will return.
Speaking on a Facebook gaming stream back in November, Rousey said that she was unaware of her contract status with WWE, but explained that she “technically” didn’t think she’s under contract.
“I technically don’t think I am [under contract to WWE], but who knows? That’s a question for lawyers,”
Rousey later said that she remains in contact with Stephanie McMahon, but hadn’t spoken to Triple H since before his recent health issues.
Ronda Rousey made her WWE in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34, teaming with Kurt Angle to take on Triple H and Stephanie. She continued to appear for the company for a year before taking time away. At the time it was noted that Rousey had signed a three-year deal with WWE.
Despite only being in WWE for a year, her arrival appeared to ruffle some feathers, with Sasha Banks since admitting that she was “p*ssed off” that Rousey was making more money than her.
