Reports have surfaced suggesting that former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey could be set for a break following her scheduled appearance at this year’s WrestleMania.

Ronda Rousey could be set for break after WrestleMania 39

Rousey was originally pencilled in to face Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania with the SmackDown Women’s Title on the line. However plans were changed when news of an injury surfaced, with Rousey instead announcing her desire to win the Women’s Tag Team Titles with Shayna Baszler.

The former UFC star revealed recently that she is struggling with a fractured radius, and issues with both her ACL and cartilage in her right knee. Whilst some may feel that the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble winner would be pushing for a position high up on the WrestleMania card, a recent revelation from prominent Twitter account WrestleVotes, when in discussion with GiveMeSport, has suggested that Rousey is currently content with her plans:

“Ronda is pretty content with her position this year, but if she was in any of the main event spots for the title, I think she’d be fine, and she’d be great in that role. But she isn’t upset.”

Baszler and Rousey have recently been added to the Women’s WrestleMania Showcase match at SoFi Stadium next weekend, where they will face Raquel Rodrigues and Liv Morgan, Shotzi and Natalya and one other team yet to be announced.

And whilst Rousey may be content with her current status on the card, WrestleVotes also revealed that the SmackDown Superstar may be set for a break after her appearance in Los Angeles and that her heart may not be fully invested into the product currently:

“I’m not quite sure that Ronda’s heart is in it as it was in 2018-19. Maybe she does need another small break, and then she returns again, she becomes the megastar, because right now, I think the feeling is that she’s not the megastar she once was.”
