Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch Reportedly Under “Heavy Consideration” For WrestleMania 38

WrestleMania 38 could see the return of ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey to WWE with a bout against Becky Lynch reportedly in the works.

Ronda Rousey hasn’t set foot in a WWE ring since April 7th, 2019 at WrestleMania 35 where she was defeated in Triple Threat action by Becky Lynch who captured both Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships with the win in a match that also featured Charlotte Flair.

It was first reported on Fightful Select that WWE are discussing the possibility of the former Raw Women’s Champion returning to the ring at the Royal Rumble. The report notes that it’s a “poorly kept secret” at this point and has even been mentioned to those outside the company.

The Wrestling Observer followed up on that and reported that Rousey is “definitely on the books” for an appearance at WrestleMania 38, three years after she last graced The Grandest Stage Of Them All. The report adds that if The Most Dangerous Unarmed Woman in the world returns at the Rumble then this could set up her WrestleMania appearance.

Now speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has suggested that plans are in place for Ronda Rousey to face Becky Lynch one-on-one on The Grandest Stage Of Them All:

“I presume [Rousey will face Lynch]. She’s scheduled for WrestleMania and it’s been reported that she’s gonna be at the Rumble which makes sense. The problem is if she’s in the Rumble does that mean she wins the Rumble?”

“If she’s gonna come in and just get thrown out, it’s a nothing [moment] especially if she’s going to be a big headliner at WrestleMania, which if she’s gonna be at WrestleMania she’s gonna be a big headliner or she’s not going to be there.”

Meltzer and co-host Bryan Alvarez then discussed the possibility that Rousey could instead face off with Charlotte Flair:

“My impression is it’s more likely to be Becky Lynch though. That could be the match and the impression I got is that it’s certainly more than considered to be the match. I don’t know if it’s ‘official official’ but I know somebody there who told me that it was “in the books” and “in heavy consideration” that that would be the match.”
