Ronda Rousey is the new SmackDown Women’s Champion after forcing Charlotte Flair to utter the humiliating words, “I Quit.”
SmackDown has a new Women’s Champion after Ronda Rousey defeated Charlotte Flair in a sublimely chaotic “I Quit” Match at WrestleMania Backlash.
With championship gold on the line, the match ramped the violence up to 11 from the outset. The two women traded Kendo stick shots, fighting out into the crowd. Within minutes both combatants were adorned with the scars of battle, but neither took a backward step.
Rousey wrapped Flair up in the corner, locking in an arm bar as the pair dangled outside the ring, but before the champion could submit, they fell to the floor.
Back in the ring, Flair locked in the Figure Eight, and even hit the Natural Selection on a chair, but Rousey wouldn’t quit. The end of the match came as Rousey went back to her arm bar, but this time with the aid of a steel chair. Between taunts, threats and snarling insults, Flair finally said “I Quit” handing Rousey the victory.

Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair had been on a collision course from the moment that the former UFC star stepped back into a WWE ring at the 2022 Royal Rumble.
At the event, Rousey returned to a WWE ring for the first time since 2019 eliminating Flair to win the Women’s Royal Rumble Match. In the weeks that followed, Rousey named The Queen as her WrestleMania opponent, setting her sights on the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
At WrestleMania, Flair grabbed the win, but her success was shrouded in controversy after the referee missed her tapping out to a submission from Rousey. Unsurprisingly, this did little to damped the tension between the two women, leading to the “I Quit” Match at WrestleMania Backlash.
Earlier in the night, Edge overcame AJ Styles in another WrestleMania 38 rematch, but only after assistance for a mysterious hooded figure.
