Ronda Rousey To Defend SmackDown Women’s Title At Money In The Bank

It has been confirmed that Ronda Rousey will be putting her SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line at Money In The Bank.

On the June 3rd episode of SmackDown, the blue brand played host to a six-pack challenge featuring Natalya, Raquel Rodriguez, Shotzi, Shayna Baszler, Xia Li and Aliyah. The winner would become number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Title.

Before the match began, Aliyah found herself locked in a room backstage, but by the time the action started she was able to join the chaos.

For much of the match it appeared that Rodriguez was the favourite to claim the win, especially after she hit her newly renamed Texana Bomb on Shotzi. However, Shayna Bazler saw that the recent NXT 2.0 graduate wouldn’t pick up the victory.

As Baszler locked in the Kirifuda Clutch it appeared that she was just seconds away from a memorable win herself, but Natalya snuck in and scored the pin. After the match, the new number one contender and the champion stood nose-to-nose.

On June 10th, Ronda Rousey came to the ring to address her new challenger. The former UFC star ran down Natalya, commenting that her Sharpshooter was just an imitation of a move she’d ripped off from her uncle Bret Hart.

During the promo it was confirmed that the two women will meet at Money In The Bank.

However, the champion was quickly confronted by Shotzi, who bartered herself into a match against Rousey on the spot. Despite a spirited showing it was Rousey who emerged victorious, but the action wasn’t over there. As Rousey celebrated she was attacked by Natalya who locked in the Sharpshooter to leave the champion laying.
