Following the events of SmackDown, WWE has announced that the 2022 women’s Royal Rumble winner Ronda Rousey will compete at the Elimination Chamber.
On SmackDown on Friday night, WWE official Adam Pearce announced that Vince McMahon was putting a stop to Sonya Deville’s vendetta against Naomi, with the former SmackDown Women’s Champion slapping Deville after being put through months of hell by the administrator.
In the main event of the night, Naomi challenged Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, ultimately coming up short against The Queen. Sonya Deville wasted no time in rubbing salt in the wounds causing Naomi to pounce on her once again. Flair took exception and intervened on behalf of Deville leading to Flair’s WrestleMania opponent Ronda Rousey making her presence felt as she made the save.
After the show, WWE announced on social media that Rousey and Naomi will team up at the Elimination Chamber to take on the team of Sonya Deville and Charlotte Flair.
Ronda Rousey made her return to a WWE ring for the first time in almost three years when she returned at the Royal Rumble in January. Entering the women’s Rumble match at number 28, the former UFC Bantamweight Champion eliminated four women on her way to winning the bout and guaranteeing yet another WrestleMania main event.
Rousey let Charlotte Flair know on the previous week’s edition of SmackDown that she was challenging for her championship at WrestleMania 38 with the Olympic bronze medallist looking to win the women’s title that she didn’t hold during her first run in the company.
