Ronda Rousey has claimed that she’s not “technically” under contract with WWE, but remains in contact with Stephanie McMahon.
Ronda Rousey hasn’t set foot in a WWE ring since April 7th 2019 at WrestleMania 35 where she was defeated in Triple Threat action. At the time, the former UFC star explained that she was taking time away as she and husband Travis Browne were trying for a baby.
Rousey gave birth to daughter La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō Browne back in September.
Despite being away from WWE that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from speculating about her potentially returning to the company. Earlier in 2021, WWE President Nick Khan stated that the “Baddest woman on the planet” would be back at “certain point in time.”
Speaking on a recent Facebook gaming stream, Rousey said that she’s unaware of her contract status with WWE, but explained that she “technically” doesn’t think she’s under contract.
“I technically don’t think I am [under contract to WWE], but who knows? That’s a question for lawyers,”
Rousey later said that she remains in contact with Stephanie McMahon, but hadn’t spoken to Triple H since before his recent health issues.
“I actually keep in touch with Steph because she’s sweet and we send each other baby pictures. I haven’t talked to Triple H since before he had his — he had heart surgery or something. I hope he’s alright.”
Ronda Rousey made her WWE in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34, teaming with Kurt Angle to take on Triple H and Stephanie. She continued to appear for the company for a year before taking time away. At the time it was noted that Rousey had signed a three-year deal with WWE.
Despite only being in WWE for a year, her arrival appeared to ruffle some feathers, with Sasha Banks since admitting that she was “p*ssed off” that Rousey was making more money than her.
