Former Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey could be headed to the blue brand should she make her highly-anticipated WWE return, according to a new report.
Ronda Rousey hasn’t set foot in a WWE ring since April 7th, 2019 at WrestleMania 35 where she was defeated in Triple Threat action by Becky Lynch who captured both Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships with the win in a match that also featured Charlotte Flair.
It was first reported on Fightful Select that WWE is discussing the possibility of the former Raw Women’s Champion returning to the ring at the Royal Rumble. The report notes that it’s a “poorly kept secret” at this point and has even been mentioned to those outside the company.
The Wrestling Observer followed up on that and reported that Rousey is “definitely on the books” for an appearance at WrestleMania 38, three years after she last graced The Grandest Stage Of Them All. The report adds that if The Most Dangerous Unarmed Woman in the world returns at the Rumble then this could set up her WrestleMania appearance.
Now Dave Meltzer has added to those reports on Wrestling Observer Radio by trying to clarify which brand Rousey could be appearing on once she returns:
“She’s back. She’s going to be back as a regular on SmackDown. But she’ll probably do some Raw shows. I think she will be on Raw on Monday. That’s kind of what has been hinted at to me. The only thing I know is that she will not be wrestling Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania. The match I was told was Becky Lynch.”
Meltzer also commented on the length of Rousey’s contract:
“A year is the deal I heard. I don’t know if she will be there every week, but it’s not just the Rumble, a WrestleMania match then gone, it’s more than that.”
There has been no official confirmation from WWE or Rousey that the former UFC Champion will return but with the Royal Rumble coming up, anything can happen.
