Ronda Rousey Criticises WWE Fans Following Bray Wyatt Release

Former RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey has taken to task fans who chanted for Bray Wyatt on a recent episode of Monday Night RAW.

The August 2nd edition of the show was the first WWE television show to take place following the release of Bray Wyatt. It was a release that caused a stir amongst fans and WWE Superstars alike. While Wyatt was reportedly let go due to budget cuts, many WWE fans were less than enamoured with the decision and vented their frustration on RAW.

Chicago has gained something of a reputation for having raucous crowds and on RAW they again lived up to their billing. The packed house repeatedly chanted for Bray Wyatt as well as CM Punk.

Taking to Twitter in reaction to the show, Ronda Rousey blasted “ungrateful idiots” for their supposed double standards. Rousey said that the same people now chanting for Wyatt, had previously chanted for beach balls while he was performing.

Bray Wyatt was released by WWE on July 31st, having not appeared in the ring since WrestleMania 37.

It was later reported that the release was due to budget cuts.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider went on to confirm that budget cuts were the reason for the departure, before revealing that one source has “pointed the finger squarely at WWE President Nick Khan and CFO Kristina Salen.” Adding that the pair are “obsessed” with the company not being on iota in the red.

The report went on to say that the relationship between Vince McMahon and Wyatt at times ran very “hot and cold.”

During his time in WWE, Bray Wyatt became a two-time Universal Champion as well as lifting the WWE Championship. The demonic cult leader also captured tag team gold on two occasions.

Ronda Rousey stepped away from WWE following her appearance in the main event of WrestleMania 35. At the time, the former UFC star explained that she was taking time away as she and Browne were trying for a baby.

On June 29th Rousey and Browne announced that they were expecting a baby girl.
