Ronda Rousey has spoken out about Cain Velasquez’s alleged shooting of a man in California.

Reports emerged late on February 28th that former WWE star and UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez had been arrested in connection to an alleged shooting that took place near Monterey Highway and Bailey Avenue in Morgan Hill, CA.

Soon after his arrest, more details emerged, with another report stating that he was being charged for attempted murder and was being held without bail in the Santa Clara County Jail in San Jose. A court date is scheduled for March 2nd.

A report from the Mercury News offered more details on the events surrounding the incident. The report notes that Velasquez allegedly shot at a man who had recently been charged with molesting a close relative. In the incident, the man’s step-father was shot and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The report adds that the accused man, 43-year-old Harry Eugene Goularte, lives at a home that hosts a day-care business run by his mother. Goularte was charged with one felony count of a lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14.

Goularte was arraigned Friday, February 25th, and granted supervised release.

Due to the delicate circumstances surrounding the case, Velasquez has received some support on social media. One person to come to his defense is none other than fellow WWE and UFC star Ronda Rousey, who tweeted support and said that she would have done the same thing in that situation.

“I would have done the same thing if not worse #freeCainVelasquez

There are ten charges being brought against Velasquez, including first degree attempted murder, multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting at an occupied motor vehicle. If he is convicted on all charges, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion could face decades in prison.
