Ronda Rousey And Shayna Baszler Finally Win Women’s Tag Team Gold

Shayna Baszler & Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey has finally got her wish and is one-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan were recently forced to vacate their titles after Morgan suffered a shoulder injury. This led to a Fatal-Four-Way being announced for May 29th.

The match featured Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler, Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville, Damage CTRL, and Raquel Rodriguez with her new partner Shotzi.

After a slow start, the match really kicked into gear when Rodriguez and Rousey finally went head-to-head, but just as the former UFC star was closing in on victory she was flattened by a huge top-rope elbow drop from Bayley.

Following more back and forth, IYO SKY and Ronda Rousey were taken out following a ‘tower of doom’ spot in the corner and that seemingly set Shotzi on the way to victory. However, Rousey had other plans. As Shotzi came off the top with a diving senton, Rousey adjusted her position on the mat to lock in an Arm Bar and secure the win.

Ronda Rousey Asked For Women’s Tag Team Title Run

Ronda Rousey’s involvement at WrestleMania 39 was very different from how it had originally been planned. Before Christmas, the plan was for the star to defend her SmackDown Women’s Title at Rhea Ripley, but that was changed due to Rousey pushing to win tag team gold with Shayna Baszler.

This saw her lose the SmackDown Women’s Title to Charlotte Flair on December 30th. However, plans for Rousey and Baszler to win the Women’s Tag Team Titles were subsequently scrapped. By the time the show rolled around, the tag team titles weren’t defended on the show at all.
