Ronda Rousey Addresses Mixed Reception To Final WWE Match: “I Don’t Care What You Think”

Ronda Rousey doesn’t care what fans think about her last WWE match and explains why she loved it!

It’s been just over a year since Ronda Rousey stepped into a WWE ring for what appears to be the final time at SummerSlam 2023. There, she suffered her first-ever submission loss to her long-time-friend-turned-enemy Shayna Baszler.

Their MMA Rules clash was met with a mixed reception, a fact that Rousey acknowledged in her latest memoir Our Fight. Rousey has been outspoken about the match partly being “a f**k you” to both WWE fans critical of her and the wider company who she had become disillusioned with.

Rousey expanded on her memoir comments during a recent interview with Chris Van Vilet, explaining that their match would have appealed more to a shoot wrestling audience seen at events like GCW’s Bloodsport. Ultimately though, she doesn’t care about how it was widely perceived as both she and Baszler loved it.

I think if we did the match at [GCW] Bloodsport or something, people would have loved it, but I think the crowd, it wasn’t for them at all. It was all MMA easter eggs and all of these moments in MMA history that we’re big geeks for that…

It was a nice little ‘f**k you’ on the way out. ‘You’re gonna sit here and watch this match that we wanted to do from the very beginning.’ I don’t care what you think, go get some f*****g popcorn. But yeah, we loved it.

Is There A Storyline That Could Bring Ronda Rousey Back To WWE?

While Ronda Rousey emphatically stated in the past that she would never return to WWE, her stance on the matter has softened somewhat after Vince McMahon’s departure in disgrace and the establishment of the company’s new regime led by Triple H.

During one of her recent livestreams, Rousey admitted that while she is unlikely to ever return to the company in a full-time capacity, she’d be open to a reunion with Baszler and even joked that she had a makeup promo already written out.
