Despite speculation suggesting that he will miss the show, it has been reported that Roman Reigns will be in the main event of WrestleMania Backlash.
Since defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38, Roman Reigns has seemingly taken a temporary step back from the front line.
The Undisputed Universal Champion made a short appearance on the Raw after WrestleMania and followed that up with another short appearance on SmackDown where he and The Bloodline attacked Shinsuke Nakamura.
However, Reigns hasn’t been seen on WWE television since, missing the April 15th episode of SmackDown.
This has led to speculation that Reigns would be missing the upcoming Premium Live Event, WrestleMania Backlash on May 8th. Despite the rumours, a new report has claimed that not only will Reigns be at the show in Rhode Island, he will also be in the main event.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave an update on the speculation.
“We were talking a couple of days ago about how since they haven’t shot an angle with him [Roman Reigns], they might be doing a pay-per-view without him, but that is not the case. He is in fact in the main event… He is in the main event of the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view.”
To date, four matches have been announced for WrestleMania Backlash with three of them being rematches from WrestleMania 38. You can find the updated card for the show below.
Despite this, one star who won’t be appearing on the show is Brock Lesnar. Although he was previously advertised for the show, he has since been removed from all promotional material. This was followed by a report said there were never actually any plans for The Beast to wrestle at the event.
