Roman Reigns is still the Tribal Chief, but rarely has SummerSlam seen a betrayal on this scale.
Tribal Combat promised to be violent, it promised to be emotional, and it promised to be a war, but its conclusion left the crowd in a hushed silence, and Corey Graves and Michael Cole disgusted on commentary.
The match itself was a slow, violent war of attrition. Both Reigns and Jey Uso used multiple weapons at ringside, with a kendo stick playing a major role early on for both men. Jey took a Powerbomb onto a pile of chairs, before regaining the upper hand hitting a Samoan Drop from the ring apron through a table on his cousin.
That cut Reigns’ elbow and he headed into the crowd as Jey chased him down with a leather strap. While amongst the Detroit public, Solo Sikoa made his presence known, flattening Jey with a Spinning Solo through a table.
At the urging of Reigns, Solo dragged Jey’s broken body to ringside, but a tense staredown between Sikoa and The Tribal Chief swung momentum back towards Jey. He Speared Reigns through the barricade, before getting revenge on Sikoa, driving him through the announce table with a huge splash.
The move served as payback for Sikoa doing the same to Jimmy Uso at Madison Square Garden.
Roman Reigns Gets A Little Help
Back in the ring, Jey appeared to have the match won, but there was one more twist to come. While pinning Reigns a mysterious hooded figure pulled him from the ring. The figure was quickly revealed to be none other than Jimmy Uso. While Jey sat stunned on the floor, Jimmy delivered a Superkick to his brother and threw him back in the ring.
By this point, a slightly confused-looking Reigns had gathered himself and Speared Jey through a table to take the win.
The show went off the air with Cole and Graves spitting venom on commentary as a deflated and very lonely Jey Uso sat in the ring.
The victory caused a reaction of extreme anger from one fan, who would smash a PS5 out of frustration following the result.
