One SmackDown star has found it problematic to get a pinfall win against Roman Reigns over the years.
Roman Reigns has held the Universal Championship for nearly two years. One WWE Superstar who has his sights set on ‘The Tribal Chief’ is Drew McIntyre.
Reigns and McIntyre have battled one another since 2019 when they first met at WrestleMania 35. What some fans may not know is that ‘The Scottish Warrior’ has never got one over on Roman Reigns in any of their matches thus far. In fact, Reigns has a 20-0 winning streak against McIntyre.
Granted, sixteen of their matches have taken place on WWE house shows. Still, McIntyre has fallen to the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion many times and could potentially fall to him again if he challenges Reigns for the championship at WWE Clash at the Castle on 3 September.
‘The Tribal Chief’ does have a bit of respect for Mcintyre and has even expressed so during interviews. During an episode of Cheap Heat last year, Roman Reigns discussed Drew McIntyre being one of the few potential men who could defeat him for the championships. However, he still labelled him as “his favourite number two”:
“There ain’t nobody. I could say my favorite number two, Drew. He’s my favorite number two. There’s a bunch of number twos, threes, whatever you want to call it. We can we can rank them. It really don’t matter. They’re under me. How far under? Who knows? Who really cares? How strong of a number two do you want to be? At this point, my favorite is Drew McIntyre.”
Roman Reigns will defend his title against Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing match at SummerSlam later this month. Drew McIntyre is still waiting in the wings and has even said he wants to challenge for the title at Clash at the Castle. He has a lot of ground to cover if perhaps he does get the match he wants.
