Roman Reigns’ Win Over Cody Rhodes “Was Always The Plan”

Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39

Roman Reigns continued his remarkable run at the top of WWE with a victory over Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39.

Despite the American Nightmare being the sentimental favourite, it was Reigns and The Bloodline who left the spectacular holding all the gold.

In the wake of the event, it was reported that Vince McMahon had been backstage during the show, sparking speculation he could have been involved in how the match went down. This speculation went into overdrive when it was revealed that McMahon had been running Raw 24 hours later after WWE agreed a merger with UFC.

However, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there was no late change to the main event.

“Reigns winning was always the plan, although it was kept secret and almost nobody knew.”

This backs up an earlier report which stated that plans for Reigns to defeat Rhodes were put in place “several weeks ago.” That report added that many elements of the match involving the run-ins weren’t relayed to talent until the day of the show.

When Will Roman Reigns Wrestle Again?

It has been reported that Roman Reigns will miss WWE’s next Premium Live Event, Backlash. In fact, Reigns might not be wrestling again until WWE heads to Saudi Arabia on May 27th.

It had previously been noted that Charlotte Flair will also be taking a break from WWE.
