A huge match is set for next week’s SmackDown as Roman Reigns will defend his WWE Universal Title against Daniel Bryan, however, if Bryan loses the consequences could be disastrous.
SmackDown began with a tag team match pitting Cesaro and Bryan against Jey Uso and Seth Rollins. Cesaro defeated Rollins at WrestleMania 37, utilising his impressive UFO no-hands spin. Uso had a successful WrestleMania weekend as he won the André The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the special WrestleMania SmackDown. He also involved himself in WrestleMania Sunday’s main event as he helped Roman Reigns defeat Bryan and Edge.
Cesaro and Bryan defeated Uso and Rollins after Seth Rollins walked out on Uso. After the match, Bryan and Cesaro attempted to goad out Reigns as Cesaro performed his big swing on Jey Uso. But Reigns would not be coerced.
Win Or Vanish
Later in the night Cesaro and Bryan tried once again with their aim of Reigns accepting a challenge for his Universal Title from Cesaro. This time Reigns, accompanied by Paul Heyman and Jey Uso, did confront the duo. Reigns turned down Cesaro’s challenge, saying that the Swiss Cyborg is not on his level.
Roman Reigns then shockingly made a challenge of his own to Daniel Bryan. Saying that he never liked Bryan, Reigns offered him one last chance to fight for his title. Cesaro urged his friend to accept the opportunity but Reigns had one final stipulation to add.
‘The Head of the Table’ told Bryan that if Reigns defeats him then he never wants to see Bryan on SmackDown ever again. Daniel Bryan has recently discussed how his time as a full-time wrestler might be coming to an end.
The match will be Reigns’ tenth title defence in his second run as WWE Universal Champion. He won the title at Payback in August 2020.
