Roman Reigns Crowned Undisputed WWE Universal Champion

Roman Reigns celebrates at WrestleMania 38

Roman Reigns has conquered The Beast Brock Lesnar to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania 38.

In a sign of things to come, Brock Lesnar removed his signature gloves as the opening bell rang. The WWE Champion quickly forced Reigns into the corner, totally dominating the early stages, even launching the Tribal Chief into orbit with a series of overhead belly-to-belly suplexes.

With Reigns thrown to the outside, Lesnar set his sights on Paul Heyman, who begged for forgiveness. But the pause gave the Universal Champion chance to Spear Lesnar through the barricade. Lesnar barely beat the count to get back in the ring, only to be Speared again.

This was quickly followed by two Superman Punches, but all they accomplished was to kick Lesnar into another gear, who suplexed Reigns repeatedly. In response, Reigns landed another Superman Punch, but his attempt at a Spear was countered into an F-5. Despite this, Reigns kicked out.

As the brawl continued, the referee was knocked down allowing Reigns to deliver a thunderous low-blow, before nailing his rival with the Universal Title belt. But even that wasn’t enough to keep The Beast down.

As Lesnar rallied, Reigns went for another Spear but it was revered into a Kimura lock. Despite complaining that his shoulder was dislocated, Reigns got to the ropes with a little help from Heyman.

Lesnar quickly looked to capitalise, but Reigns hit one more Spear to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

While Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar had met before, the rivalry between the pair went to a whole new level at SummerSlam 2021.

After Reigns has defeated John Cena, Lesnar made his triumphant return, getting in the face of the Universal Champion. In the months that followed, the pair traded barbs as Paul Heyman’s loyalties remained unclear, having history with Lesnar despite currently managing Reigns.

At Crown Jewel, Reigns defeated Lesnar with help from The Usos, but a rematch at Day 1 after Heyman turned on Reigns was cancelled after The Tribal Chief tested positive for COVID-19. With Reigns out of the picture, The Beast won the WWE Title.

However, at the Royal Rumble, Reigns and Heyman reunited to cost Lesnar the WWE Championship. But there were more twists, as Lesnar regained the WWE Title at Elimination Chamber. This set up the huge Title vs. Title showdown at WrestleMania.
