On December 9th it was reported that Roman Reigns had suffered a ruptured eardrum and would be out of action for a short period. At the time it was noted that the star wasn’t advertised for any upcoming shows or live events, but that has quickly changed.
Reigns suffered the injury during the WarGames main event at Survivor Series where he was on the end of a particularly stiff shot from Kevin Owens. The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion also sustained bruising under his eye in the incident. In the hours after the show it was reported that Reigns was angry and upset backstage, but the situation was quickly resolved.
Roman Reigns Returning To SmackDown
WWE have announced that Roman Reigns will be back on Friday Night SmackDown on December 16th. On the December 9th episode, Jey Uso suggested that Sami Zayn get a haircut and sharpen himself up for the arrival of the Tribal Chief in a week’s time. Jey added another layer of intrigue commenting that it looks like it could be a big night for Zayn after all he has given to The Bloodline in recent weeks.
Elsewhere on the show Ricochet will have his rematch with Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship. The high-flyer earned the opportunity with victory in the SmackDown World Cup. On the most recent edition of the show, Ricochet teamed with The New Day to defeat Imperium in an impromptu match following the contract signing for the Intercontinental Title bout.
The other championship on the line will be the Women’s Tag Team Titles after Tegan Nox and Liv Morgan overcame Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler following interference from Raquel Rodriguez.
It has also been confirmed that Legado Del Fantasma, the Viking Raiders and Hit Row will meet in a huge Triple Threat Tag Team Match after all three teams were involved in a brawl on December 9th.
